Fortunately, he escaped injury, but his seat security and car confidence are under pressure due to recent performance issues and Daniel Ricciardo's return. The team is working to repair the car before Free Practice Two, where significant upgrades will be tested ahead of qualifying and the grand prix.

De Vries 'of interest' to Nissan

Nyck de Vries, the 2021 Formula E World Champion, was fired by AlphaTauri after just 10 races into his rookie campaign in Formula 1. Nissan Formula E Team is interested in signing him for the 2024 season after talks with the Dutch driver took place. De Vries' return to Formula E with Nissan seems to be his best option, although Nissan is also considering Oliver Rowland for the seat. If he joins Nissan, they will allow him to compete for Toyota in the World Endurance Championship, offering him a potential pathway to an endurance racing program.

How the FIA enforces budget cap rules

Introduced in 2021, the FIA enforces the budget cap through the Financial Regulations rulebook, setting a limit of $135 million for each team's spending related to car performance. After Red Bull's overspend breach in 2021 and a substantial fine, the FIA conducts annual audits, leading to heightened tensions during the governing body's sign-off. The auditing process involves an initial review of teams' submissions, followed by on-site audits, resulting in certificates of compliance. The process was expedited in 2022 to promptly address the previous year's championship and penalties. The FIA's cost cap administrators are seasoned auditors, continuously refining the evolving process to reduce misunderstandings and improve the regulatory framework.
