Leclerc and Albon led rain-soaked FP3

Charles Leclerc set the fastest time in the final Formula 1 free practice session at the British Grand Prix before rain arrived at Silverstone. Leclerc's time of 1:27.419 on soft compound Pirellis put him ahead of Alex Albon in the Williams and Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin. Lando Norris encountered a problem with his McLaren and was summoned by officials, while Zhou Guanyu had technical issues and only managed two installation laps.

Mercedes tells newcomers to “buy a team”

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff believes that Formula 1 teams should follow the model of American sports franchises, where newcomers can only enter by buying an existing team. He made these comments in response to FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem's interest in Andretti Global's bid to enter the sport with support from General Motors. Silverstone deploys army against Just Stop Oil protest

Silverstone organizers are taking extensive measures to prevent protests by Just Stop Oil from disrupting the British Grand Prix.
