He joins Alfa Romeo after leaving McLaren earlier in the 2023 season. The team sees Key's appointment as a significant step as Sauber Motorsport prepares to become a works team in 2026 through a takeover by Audi. This is not Key's first time at Sauber, as he previously worked as the team's Technical Director from 2010 to 2012 before joining Toro Rosso. Key expressed his excitement about returning to Sauber and leading the team's technical side during this crucial period. The Alfa Romeo team is set to be rebranded as Sauber in 2024, as Alfa Romeo ends its partnership in preparation for Audi's arrival.

Sky Sports has suspended two F1 commentators, Matteo Bobbi and Davide Valsecchi, from its Italian channel after they made sexist remarks during a live broadcast of the Spanish Grand Prix. Bobbi initiated a sexist joke, referring to a woman as an "upgrade package," and Valsecchi responded in agreement. Their fellow broadcaster, Federica Masolin, expressed her disapproval and requested to shift the focus away from them.
