Pirelli proposes new tires for Silverstone

Pirelli has proposed to the FIA to introduce stronger tires for the Silverstone race in July amid concerns about the gains teams have made in downforce with the 2023 cars. The compounds of the new tires will be identical to what is currently being used, and Pirelli will need the support of eight out of 10 teams for approval. The move is not due to safety concerns, and Pirelli is eager to ensure the new tires are tried out beforehand and has suggested the Spanish Grand Prix or the following race in Canada for testing. The dramatic improvement in lap time at the Miami Grand Prix has highlighted that cars are only going to get quicker, and Pirelli wants to avoid problems further down the line.

McLaren confirms upgrade timeline

McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri will have to wait for three more Grand Prix before major upgrades arrive in June and July, respectively. The team plans to spread out the updates between the Canadian Grand Prix and the British Grand Prix and will not introduce anything new at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. McLaren has had a disappointing start to the season, scoring points in only one of the five Grand Prix so far. The team plans to bring significant upgrades before the summer break.

Drivers reach consensus on DRS zone length

George Russell, director of the Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA), has stated that Formula 1 drivers would rather have DRS zones that make overtaking "slightly too easy" than "slightly too difficult." He revealed that all 20 drivers have come to the same conclusion over the use of DRS, with the reduction of DRS zones in Miami leading to criticism from drivers. Russell also spoke about his working relationship with key figures in the FIA, including Nikolas Tombazis and Steve Nielsen.

Ferrari won't copy Red Bull

After five races in the 2023 season, Ferrari is struggling in fourth place with 78 points, while Red Bull dominates with five consecutive wins. Ferrari's team boss, Frederic Vasseur, acknowledges the pressure to succeed but dismisses the idea of copying Red Bull's strategies. Vasseur emphasizes the importance of developing their own platform and making changes from within. Despite Red Bull's success, Ferrari plans to rectify their mistakes and improve their performance at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix.
