Pirelli extends tire supplier contract through 2027

With its current contract set to expire next year and speculation of Bridgestone returning, Pirelli announced that it has been confirmed as the tire partner supplying Formula 1, Formula 2 and Formula 3 through the 2027 season. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali had this to say on the matter: “Since returning to the sport in 2011 Pirelli has been an invaluable partner, supporting Formula 1 through new generations of technology and technical regulations and delivering tires to enable fantastic racing for our fans.”

Just 38,000 fans witnessed Max’s third championship win

Just over 38,000 fans were in attendance at the Lusail International Circuit in Qatar for the sprint race where Max Verstappen claimed the driver’s championship title for 2023, his third in a row. While the achievement was significant, it was not witnessed by the crowds typically seen at Formula 1 races in other venues. The Sunday race attendance was higher at 48,000, but it was still shy of the 52,000 person capacity.

Sulayem: Stewards are not the solution for track limits issues

While not as severe a situation as in Austria, Qatar proved once again that track limits issues create confusion for fans and drivers alike. Many laps were deleted throughout the weekend, including Oscar Piastri, who was notified during a post-qualifying interview. When discussing the matter, FIA President Ben Sulayem acknowledged that the stewards worked quickly to address each instance but that “the solution is to improve the track itself.”
