With a focus on expanding in the United States, Formula 1 has recently registered trademarks for a potential 'Grand Prix of Chicago.' This move follows the success of adding Miami and Las Vegas Grands Prix to the calendar, bringing the total to three races in the US. Lando Norris has signed a contract extension with McLaren, dispelling speculation about a potential move to Red Bull. Loyalty isn't the primary factor behind his decision, as Norris aims for world titles and sees McLaren as offering a realistic path to success. The terms of the contract remain undisclosed, hinting at possible break clauses or a shorter commitment. Norris acknowledges that championship success at McLaren may not materialize before 2026, but with the team's recent revival and promising developments, he believes it's the right choice for achieving his goal of becoming a world champion.

Fry suggested reintroducing refueling, citing its unpredictability and the current lack of cars breaking down. He also recommended exploring alterations to sporting regulations, such as race format, pit stops, and tire usage, to create a more level playing field. Acknowledging the difficulty in achieving genuine unpredictability, Fry emphasized the need for radical solutions to maintain viewer engagement and break up the dominance of teams like Red Bull and drivers like Max Verstappen.

The test program began with the Valkyrie AMR Pro track day car, serving as a development platform for the new LMH that will be raced by the Heart of Racing team. Aston Martin's head of endurance racing, Adam Carter, noted that the testing, which started at Silverstone, is focused on early systems checks using the AMR Pro before transitioning to full LMH testing later in the year, and the 2025 Valkyrie LMH remains on schedule for a track debut in the second quarter of this year.

The classic acceleration test

A team of students from AMZ Racing at ETH Zurich, a Swiss university, developed a car that achieved a faster acceleration than any other worldwide, surpassing the previous record of 1.46 seconds. The car goes from 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 0.956 seconds. Curious about their approach, Scott Mansell communicated with the team to understand how these ambitious students approached this crazy project.
