The inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix was definitely an interesting race! There was some lap 1 drama with Max Verstappen taking the lead from Charles Leclerc. It seemed like a controversial move since Verstappen looked to have pushed Leclerc off the track, but the stewards deemed it was only worth a 5 second penalty. Lando Norris had quite a high impact crash on lap 3 of the race. For a driver who is not known to crash often, this was definitely one of his bigger ones with the rear giving out and catapulting him into the barriers.
Many drivers seemed to struggle with their tires as they weren't getting up to temperature quick enough. Although the Williams looked very strong in qualifying, neither Logan Sargeant or Alex Albon were able to finish in the points. Charles Leclerc held onto the lead for the majority of the race, losing position to Checo and then eventually Max. With five laps left, Nico Hülkenberg was seen retiring his Haas car, as his teammate, Kevin Magnussen, was only able to put his car in 13th. Yuki Tsunoda was the last car to retire as he struggled with gear box issues.
Esteban Ocon had a great race, coming home to finish in 4th while his teammate, Pierre Gasly, was only able to put his Alpine in 11th. Oscar Piastri also had a great race, starting in 18th on the grid, he was able to finish in 10th to take home one point for McLaren. Carlos Sainz, finished his inaugural Grand Prix in 6th, after starting 12th on the grid due to a ten place grid penalty. Max Verstappen claimed the win with Charles Leclerc claiming second position on the very last lap. Sergio Perez claimed third on the podium to secure his second spot in the Driver's Championship.
