Max Verstappen topped the session with Alexander Albon and Sergio Perez following closely behind. The Aston Martins had a mediocre session with Fernando Alonso finishing in 16th and Lance Stroll coming in 10th. The McLaren of Lando Norris had a great session with him finishing in 4th while his teammate, Oscar Piastri, finished in 6th.
FP1 had various rookie appearances. Mercedes swapped out George Russell for Frederik Vesti who finished in 19th. Alpine had Jack Doohan replace Pierre Gasly and he finished the session in 18th. Isack Hadjar took the spot of Yuki Tsunoda, putting his borrowed AlphaTauri in 17th. Ollie Bearman, replacing Kevin Magnussen, performed the best out of all the rookies, placing his Haas in 15th. Unfortunately for Théo Pourchaire, his Alfa Romeo experienced some technical difficulties which prevented him from getting out on the track.
