Perez misses media day due to illness

Red Bull confirmed Sergio Perez will miss their home race media day due to an illness. The team prefers he stay back to gain strength for an action-packed sprint weekend: “Checo [Perez] won’t be at the circuit today. He became unwell last night and is taking the day to rest to ensure he’s in the best possible health for this weekend’s race.” There are several reserve options the team can call on should Checo remain unwell.

FIA tweaks sprint qualifying tire rules

The FIA has revised the tire regulations for Formula 1 sprint qualifying after the unintended consequences observed in Baku. Teams were exploiting the rules by using intermediate tires in dry sessions. To address this, drivers are now allowed to use any set of soft tires in the final session, even if they have been used before. This change was made in accordance with Article 1.4 of the regulations and had the support of all teams except one.
