SailGP has started making waves in the racing world, introducing fans to a whole new caliber of racing while putting sustainability at the helm. This green mindset coupled with the fact that SailGP grands prix take place on or near city waterfronts means there are generally stricter rules about what you can or can’t bring into the venue.
Here’s our guide to help start your packing list. Just keep in mind that each race may have its own nuanced rules, so double-check the race-specific criteria before heading to the water.
The General SailGP Bag Policy
SailGP is one of the racing series that is highly consistent across its venues in terms of what you can or can’t bring into the race.
Bags/Backpacks
- Small bags only
- You are generally limited to one small bag per person
- The maximum size is roughly 16” x 12” x 12”
Clutch/Purse
- One small clutch or purse is allowed in addition to the main small bag
- 4.5” x 6.5”
- If you want to be extra safe, bringing a clear bag is encouraged but not required
NOTE: All bags, purses and personal items are subject to be searched upon entry.
What to Bring

Considering SailGP is all outside, it is imperative to pack properly for the weather as there is usually limited coverage from the elements.

- This varies depending on the venue location, but generally, outside food of any kind is prohibited

- Drinks can be purchased from the vendors inside the venue
