McLaren driver, Lando Norris, tops the first free practice session in Spain ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton
We are back in Barcelona as Spain rounds out the final race weekend of the European triple header. Home race to Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, this is the last year we'll be seeing the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on the F1 calendar as it's being replaced in 2026 by a circuit located in Madrid. Two rookies took to the track during FP1 for Haas and Williams. See what happened in the session:
- Williams and Haas have rookies in the car with Ryo Hirakawa filling in for Esteban Ocon and Victor Martins filling in for Alex Albon
- Carlos Sainz was one of the last drivers to get out on track as it was speculated his mechanics were bleeding his brakes ahead of the session
- As the session went on, the commentators let the audience know that Sainz is one of four drivers in F1 history to score points every time they've driven in Spain. For Sainz, he has scored points ten times which is very impressive
- Isack Hadjar has had some very impressive performances this season, finishing in P6 in Monaco ahead of his teammate and both the Mercedes drivers
- Hadjar finished FP1 in P8
- Lando Norris topped the session ahead of Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton
