Callum Ilott is a British racing driver born on November 11, 1998, in England. He started racing before his teenage years and steadily climbed the motorsport ladder with strong results in junior single-seaters.

Over his career, he has participated in Formula racing in Europe, endurance racing on the world stage, and IndyCar in the United States. He was also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy from 2017 to 2021, which played a major role in his rise through the junior formula ranks.

He soon entered competitive karting and began racing regularly in the UK by 2007, and this was the start of his formal motorsport journey.

Callum Ilott’s career in the Formula series

Callum Ilott moved from karts into car racing in his early teens and quickly impressed in British and European junior categories. In 2015, he finished second overall in the Toyota Racing Series in New Zealand, competing against several future Formula drivers. 

In 2017, he finished runner-up in the GP3 Series, racing across circuits in Europe. He stepped up to Formula 2 in 2018 and remained in the series through 2020, joining Prema Racing for the 2020 season. 

That year, he raced in countries such as Austria, Italy, and Bahrain, and finished second overall in the championship behind Mick Schumacher. During the 2020 Formula 2 season, Ilott recorded three race wins and eight podium finishes, and stayed in the title fight until the final round in Bahrain.

Callum Ilott’s Endurance Racing career

While building his single-seater résumé, Ilott also moved into endurance racing. He made his Le Mans debut in 2021 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, racing in the LMP2 class. 

He finished second in class at Le Mans in 2021, narrowly missing out on victory in one of the world’s most demanding endurance races.

In 2024, he competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship with Jota Sport in the Hypercar category. He raced the Porsche 963 Hypercar across the 2024 WEC season, including rounds at Spa, Le Mans, Fuji, and Bahrain, gaining experience at the highest level of sports car racing.

After finishing Formula 2 in 2020, Ilott began looking toward American open-wheel racing. He made his IndyCar debut on September 12, 2021, at the Grand Prix of Portland in the United States with Juncos Hollinger Racing. 

He raced part-time before moving into a full-time in 2023, completing his first full IndyCar season with Juncos Hollinger Racing.

In 2024, he joined Prema Racing’s new IndyCar program, driving the No. 90 Dallara Chevrolet. The move marked Prema Racing’s first season in IndyCar, and Ilott was central to the team’s early development in the series.

Some of Ilott’s biggest moments include finishing second in the 2020 Formula 2 Championship and competing in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2021 and 2024. 

In IndyCar, his standout result came in 2023 with a top-five finish at the Long Beach Grand Prix in California. He finished fifth at Long Beach on April 16, 2023, which is one of his strongest results in the series to date.

He has also raced at circuits such as Portland and Nashville, which shows his ability to perform on street circuits, road courses, and in endurance racing.
