Mick Schumacher is a German racing driver who rose through European junior categories before reaching Formula 1 in 2021 with the Haas F1 Team. Raised in Switzerland, Mick grew up surrounded by motorsport during his father’s dominant Ferrari era in the early 2000s. He began karting competitively in 2008 at age nine, racing across Germany and Europe. For privacy reasons, he initially competed under the surname “Betsch,” before returning to the Schumacher name in 2014 as he prepared to enter single-seater racing.

Mick Schumacher began his single-seater career in ADAC Formula 4 in 2015 with Van Amersfoort Racing. He later moved into the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2017. In 2018, Mick Schumacher won the European Formula 3 Championship after taking eight wins with Prema Theodore Racing.

One of the biggest moments of that season came at Hockenheim in October 2018, where he delivered a decisive performance to seal the title. In January 2019, Schumacher joined the Ferrari Driver Academy and entered Formula 2 with Prema Racing. 

After two seasons in F2, he won the Formula 2 Championship in December 2020 in Bahrain, which earned him promotion to Formula 1 with Haas for the 2021 season. In 2022, he scored his first Formula 1 points at the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on July 3. He also finished in the points again one week later at the Austrian Grand Prix in Spielberg on July 10.

Mick Schumacher’s IndyCar path began after Haas confirmed in November 2022 that he would not remain with the team for the 2023 season. Soon after, he joined Mercedes as a reserve driver for 2023, staying connected to Formula 1 while keeping his career options open. 

In 2024, reports linked him to a possible IndyCar move, as Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing was reportedly considering him for a future seat. Now, Mick Schumacher has been confirmed for a full-time IndyCar move in 2026. He will race the No. 47 Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in the NTT IndyCar Series.

One of the greatest moments of Mick Schumacher’s career came in October 2018, when he clinched the European Formula 3 title at Hockenheim. 

Another major milestone followed on December 6, 2020, when he secured the Formula 2 championship at the Bahrain International Circuit. Then in 2022, he scored his first Formula 1 points at the British Grand Prix, finishing eighth, before adding more points with a sixth-place finish at the Austrian Grand Prix.
