Rinus VeeKay is a Dutch racing driver who competes in the IndyCar Series. He moved to the United States in 2017 and began his rise through the American open-wheel ladder. In 2018, he won the Pro Mazda Championship with Juncos Racing after a dominant season. 

He followed that up in 2019 with a strong Indy Lights campaign, where he won six races and finished second overall. VeeKay reached IndyCar in 2020 with Ed Carpenter Racing and made his debut at Texas Motor Speedway. 

He stayed with the team through 2023, before switching to Dale Coyne Racing in 2024. In 2025, he joined Juncos Hollinger Racing to continue his IndyCar career.

Rinus VeeKay was born on September 11, 2000, in Hoofddorp, Netherlands. His full name is Rinus van Kalmthout, and he grew up in a racing family. His father, Marijn van Kalmthout, was also a racing driver. 

VeeKay began karting in 2008 at the age of eight and competed for several years in Dutch and European karting championships, which helped shape his early racing development.

Rinus VeeKay reached IndyCar through the Road to Indy ladder system. His rise began in 2017 when he competed in the USF2000 Championship with Pabst Racing. That season, he won the USF2000 title after taking seven victories. In 2018, he moved into Pro Mazda with Juncos Racing and dominated the series, winning the championship with eight wins.

His success brought major attention and helped open the door to Indy Lights in 2019, again with Juncos Racing. There, he won six races and finished second in the standings. Those results earned him a full-time IndyCar opportunity with Ed Carpenter Racing in 2020. 

He made his IndyCar debut at Texas Motor Speedway on June 6, 2020. After racing with Ed Carpenter Racing through 2023, he joined Dale Coyne Racing in 2024, before signing with Juncos Hollinger Racing in 2025.

One of Rinus VeeKay’s proudest moments came on July 11, 2020, when he earned his first IndyCar podium after finishing third at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. 

In 2021, he reached an even bigger milestone when he claimed his first IndyCar victory at the GMR Grand Prix on May 15 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. That win made him one of the youngest Dutch drivers to ever win an IndyCar race. 

VeeKay later finished eighth in the 2021 IndyCar championship standings and remained a full-time driver with Ed Carpenter Racing through 2023, collecting several top-five finishes during that period.

Another key moment came in 2025, when he signed with Juncos Hollinger Racing JHR as he continued chasing more wins.
