Formula 1’s British Grand Prix looked like another inevitable Mercedes’ win for much of the weekend, but after a late stage suspension failure for Kimi Antonelli and a DNF for Max Verstappen, the race ended under a safety car and went the way of the Scuderia. Charles Leclerc controlled the ending stages of the race and banked his first win, while Lewis Hamilton wasn’t given a chance to try and overtake George Russell before the checkered flag. F1 Fantasy winners and losers below…
Winners
Ferrari
Sprint: P2 (Hamilton) and P5 (Leclerc)
Qualifying: P2 (Leclerc) and P3 (Hamilton)
Race: P1 (Leclerc) and P3 (Hamilton)
Charles Leclerc secured Ferrari‘s second win of the 2026 Formula 1 season with a dominant performance in Silverstone. He took the lead of the Grand Prix at the start and drove a strong race throughout to keep the Silver Arrows drivers behind him. Hamilton was noted for a yellow flag infringement late in the race, but he only received a reprimand and was able to keep P3 and finished the race on the podium. As icing on the cake, Leclerc won the Driver of the Day to bring his total F1 Fantasy points haul to 54—the most of any individual driver—while Hamilton scored 33. The Ferrari constructor scored 92 F1 Fantasy points and gained $0.3M in value.
Isack Hadjar
Sprint: P9
Qualifying: P5
Race: P5
During the Sprint, both Red Bull cars were both plagued with poor starts, with Hadjar dropping multiple places and unable to score championship points. However, things started to turn around for Hadjar when the French driver outqualified his teammate Max Verstappen in Silverstone, something that hadn’t been done by any of Verstappen’s previous teammates. Throughout the race, he was able to keep reigning world champion Lando Norris behind for the first stint and stayed consistent through a virtual safety car caused by debris and safety car caused by Verstappen to finish in P5. He earned 23 F1 Fantasy points and gained $0.6M in value.
George Russell
Sprint: P4
Qualifying: P4
Race: P2
George Russell’s home race weekend started with misfortune when he missed the podium in the Sprint and finished P4. The problems continued, and at one point in the middle of the Grand Prix it looked like yet another weekend where Russell was destined to lose championship points to his younger Mercedes teammate, Kimi Antonelli. However, a suspension issue for Antonelli and a safety car caused by Verstappen’s retirement vaulted Russell to P2 by the end of the race. He scored the second most F1 Fantasy points of any driver with 44 and gained $0.3M in value.
Racing Bulls
Sprint: P8 (Lawson) and P10 (Lindblad)
Qualifying: P9 (Lindblad) and P10 (Lawson)
Race: P6 (Lawson) and P7 (Lindblad)
Racing Bulls continues to be the class of the midfield, with both drivers scoring championship points and making it into Q3 again. Liam Lawson and Arvid Lindblad both made contact with Oscar Piastri at the beginning of the Grand Prix, but they didn’t sustain any damage and were able to finish in P6 and P7, respectively. On the weekend, Lawson scored 22 F1 Fantasy points and Lindblad scored 18, with both drivers earning a maximum budget gain of $0.6M. VCARB as a team scored 55 points and gained $0.6M. For two weekends in a row, they’ve been the only midfield team to get two cars into Q3, and F1 Fantasy managers with VCARB will hope to see their strong form continue at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Losers
Max Verstappen
Sprint: P6
Qualifying: P7
Race: P20
Max Verstappen looked like he was challenging for a podium at moments in the race. Then he went off at Stowe, beaching his car and snuffing any shot. After Verstappen’s second place last week, Red Bull will be disappointed that they were unable to finish at the front this week and replicate the success. He was technically classified for finishing the race, but Verstappen scored -3 F1 Fantasy points and lost $0.3M in value.
Nico Hulkenberg
Sprint: P15
Qualifying: P13
Race: DNF
Fortunately, Nico Hulkenberg cannot lose F1 Fantasy budget as he was already at the price floor at $3.0M. Unfortunately, he can still score negative F1 Fantasy points for on-track mishaps, as was the case here when he received -20 for a mechanical failure while attempting to return to the pit lane. He was unable to complete the race and received negative -7 F1 Fantasy points total on the weekend. He is still a viable option for those who cannot afford more expensive drivers and don’t want to lose budget, but his negative points will certainly be a damper on team managers who continue running him.
Williams
Sprint: P17 (Sainz) and P18 (Albon)
Qualifying: P15 (Sainz) and P16 (Albon)
Race: P12 (Sainz) and DNF (Albon)
Williams’ disappointing season continued in Silverstone, where Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon failed to score points in any portion of the weekend and were only consistently faster than the Aston Martin and Cadillac cars. Albon started the Sprint race from the pit lane and treated that session as an additional practice, only to make first lap contact with Oliver Bearman in the main race and spend the rest watching from the garage. The Grove team will need to hope for significant midseason upgrades to fight closer to the front of the midfield.
