Max Verstappen had a perfect weekend in Singapore as he won the Sprint, took pole, and led every lap of the main Grand Prix, while Ferrari bounced back from a tougher stretch, despite a strategy blunder on Lewis Hamilton’s side of the garage, to finish on the podium in both races. F1 Fantasy Winners and Losers from the Singapore Grand Prix below…
Winners
Max Verstappen
Sprint: P1
Qualifying: P1
Race: P1
Red Bull’s Baku upgrades continued to deliver for a third-straight race as Max Verstappen took a second-straight win and third-straight podium in Singapore. This was also Verstappen’s 250th race start and first win at Singapore, a track that’s been a bit of a bogey for him in the past. Verstappen was able to out-brake Charles Leclerc at the first corner, and that’s all he needed to maintain the lead for the remainder of the race. He won the Driver of the Day award as well, and he was able to finish with 53 F1 Fantasy points and a $0.3M price gain.
Ferrari
Sprint: P2 (Leclerc) and P3 (Hamilton)
Qualifying: P2 (Leclerc) and P3 (Hamilton)
Race: P2 (Leclerc) and P6 (Hamilton)
Ferrari looked back on form in Singapore and were competitive all weekend. Their one mistake came from not double stacking under the virtual safety car, which ultimately cost Hamilton a podium since he was vulnerable on old soft tires. That eventually allowed Kimi Antonelli, Lando Norris, and Oscar Piastri to pass him. However, Ferrari were still the highest-scoring F1 Fantasy team from the weekend with 91 points and a $0.3M price gain.
Haas
Sprint: P6 (Bearman) and P10 (Ocon)
Qualifying: P12 (Bearman) and P13 (Ocon)
Race: P12 (Bearman) and P13 (Ocon)
Esteban Ocon and Ollie Bearman treated viewers to a show with their wheel-to-wheel battle at the beginning of the main race, and they managed to keep both cars intact as well. Right after passing his teammate, Bearman was also able to overtake Carlos Sainz for another position gained and overtake point in F1 Fantasy. This allowed Haas to be the highest-scoring midfield team in F1 Fantasy this race weekend. They finished with 35 F1 Fantasy points and a $0.6M price gain.
Carlos Sainz
Sprint: P12
Qualifying: P14
Race: P14
Williams has been a team that’s deeply struggled thus far under the current regulations, and after Singapore they’re sitting P9 in the Constructors’ standings. Despite Carlos Sainz not scoring an F1 championship point this week, he was able to score 13 F1 Fantasy points, enough for a $0.6M price gain, after gaining 10 places during the Sprint race when he took advantage of multiple DNFs ahead of him. It’s progress like that which matters for a team that’s struggled so much this season.
Losers
Oscar Piastri
Sprint: DNF
Qualifying: P7
Race: P5
Both McLarens collided in the Sprint this weekend, with Oscar Piastri’s car unable to finish the last lap. Piastri’s bad luck continued in the main race, where he suffered a slow puncture and had to take an unplanned pit stop just seven laps after his first one. However, his new tires were able to assist him in overtaking Lewis Hamilton on the penultimate lap, which allowed him to finish ahead of where he started. Piastri scored 6 F1 Fantasy points and lost $0.3M in value.
Alpine
Sprint: P9 (Gasly) and DNF (Colapinto)
Qualifying: P10 (Gasly, started P9) and P16 (Colapinto)
Race: P13 (Gasly) and DNF (Colapinto)
Alpine had consistently been near the top of the midfield this year, but Singapore was not kind to the French team. Franco Colapinto DNF’d in both the Sprint and the Grand Prix, although he was able to safely retire his car behind barriers without disrupting the race. Pierre Gasly lost four positions from the start of the race to finish outside of the championship points. Alpine scored -20 F1 Fantasy points and lost $0.3M in value.
Lance Stroll
Sprint: DNF
Qualifying: P19
Race: DNF
Lance Stroll was another driver who was unable to finish both the Sprint and the main Grand Prix in Singapore. He has been unable to complete all the laps of the race in 16 out of 17 races this season, and it doesn’t look like Aston Martin will have a fix for their reliability woes before the end of the season. While teammate Fernando Alonso has been able to score 7 championship points throughout the season, Stroll unfortunately remained at zero after this weekend. F1 Fantasy-wise, he scored -28 points from the weekend in Singapore, although he was unable to lose any budget as he was already at the price floor.
