Best and Worst F1 Fantasy Assets for the US Grand Prix

Many teams are considering the Extra DRS Boost this weekend, so selecting the right 3X, 2X, and budget drivers will prepare your team for a big weekend at COTA. Here are the latest Buy/Sell rankings from The Fantasy Formula and a few notable facts to consider.

Max Verstappen

The hottest driver in the game returns to a circuit that brings out the best in the reigning World Drivers' Champion. He won each of the last two Sprint races at COTA and won every Grand Prix from 2021 through 2023. Verstappen holds the Formula 1 record with 12 Sprint wins, including the most recent Sprint at Belgium. Red Bull's Monza updates to the RB21 proved to stand up to various circuits and conditions in recent weeks, vaulting Max back into title contention. 37.2% of the Global League Top 500 ran Verstappen as their DRS-Boosted driver in Singapore, and that number should continue to rise this weekend.

George Russell

Second to only Max Verstappen in fantasy scoring over the last five races, George Russell looks to build on a strong record at COTA. He finished P6 here last season after starting from the pit lane, earning him a whopping 38 fantasy points. Betting lines currently project Russell to finish ahead of 2024 USGP winner, Charles Leclerc, with an outside shot of a podium finish. Teams deploying the Extra DRS Boost that fall short of affording Verstappen/Piastri combinations can turn to Russell as a dependable 2X-Boosted option.

Ferrari

Ferrari finished outside the top 3 constructors in fantasy scoring in four of the last five races. Mercedes and Red Bull both emerged as more consistent options as of late while Ferrari dealt with various brake issues at Singapore. The Scuderia logged just one Fastest Pit Stop award in the eight races since Canada, which previously buffered their fantasy scoring when the team struggled on track. Charles Leclerc won this race in 2024, so Ferrari may fight back this weekend, but the once-meta constructor could just as easily find itself in the Sell category by Mexico if things don't turn around soon.

Kimi Antonelli

After enduring 13 straight price decreases, Kimi Antonelli appears to have regained his early season spark. He posted 22 fantasy points at Baku and 17 at Singapore, leaving him with a reasonable target to gain $0.6M (16 points). The budget version of George Russell for cash-strapped teams, Antonelli brings high scoring upside at a reasonable price. For teams with a cost cap below $120M, Antonelli is a must have to keep pace with 4A builds.

Fernando Alonso

The wily veteran logged a season-high 30 points at Singapore, setting up one of the easiest targets to gain $0.6M (-2 points). One knock on Fernando this week is history of DNFs on Sprint weekends: he failed to finish the Chinese Grand Prix, the Miami Sprint Race, and 4 out of his last 6 United States Grands Prix.
