Gasly damages front wing after hitting rabbit

Pierre Gasly hit a rabbit during the first practice at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix and damaged his front wing. He couldn’t avoid the rabbit, so Alpine’s team had to fix his car before the next session. Even with the problem, Gasly finished third in the second practice, close to the fastest McLarens. He said the car felt much better than before and was happy with how the team worked all day.

Piastri claims pole position in Imola

Oscar Piastri claimed his third career pole position in Imola after dominating in the practice sessions. The Australian driver topped both FP1 and FP2 on Friday, showing the speed of his McLaren. The McLaren driver looked strong throughout the entire session, despite the interruptions with the two red flags and long delay ahead of Q2. Piastri will start on pole ahead of Max Verstappen and the Mercedes of George Russell. Lando Norris just fell short of making the top three, but he has also been looking strong throughout the practices thus far. With the close margins of the qualifying session, it is sure to be an exciting race!

Teams struggle with fragile new C6 tires

Lando Norris led the final Emilia Romagna GP practice at Imola, setting a 1m14.897s lap despite struggling with the new, fragile C6 soft tires. McLaren secured a third consecutive 1-2, but the C6 tire proved tricky for many, including Norris and teammate Oscar Piastri, who both found handling difficult. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen showed strong pace on the C5 mediums but couldn’t match McLaren on the C6s, finishing 0.181 seconds behind Norris. Several drivers, like George Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli, failed to improve on soft tires and had to rely on medium tire times, while incidents like spins and gravel trips affected others.

Ferrari duo build tracks with AI

Drivers usually conquer the track. Now, they’re the ones creating it. As part of a collaboration between Formula 1, Scuderia Ferrari HP, and Amazon Web Services (AWS), Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc took part in the “Real-Time Race Track” experience. This project lets users create their own custom circuits with help from generative AI tools like Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Nova, which offer insights and performance data for each design.

What went wrong for Ferrari?

Ferrari’s 2025 season has been very disappointing so far. They must make major changes quickly if they want to turn things around. There are some signs that things could improve, but first, we must look at what went wrong. After all, they finished last year heading in the right direction.
