F1 needs to move on from volunteer stewards

George Russell has called for the establishment of a permanent race steward to improve consistency in on-track decisions. His comments come after recent debates around Max Verstappen's aggressive racing tactics against Lando Norris, which resulted in two penalties for Verstappen. Russell believes that while the current rulebook doesn't need a complete overhaul, minor adjustments are necessary for clarity. "We're at a point now in this sport that we do need a full-time professional steward in where they earn a real salary." He continued, "It's not saying anything bad about the current stewards, it's just saying I feel we should be having consistent stewarding week in, week out."

Both Vowles and McLaren's Andrea Stella welcomed the chance for teams to create different cars, saying this would be good for the sport.

Lawson’s impressive mid-season performances have led to speculation about replacing the struggling Sergio Perez, similar to Albon’s own promotion in 2019. However, Albon advised Lawson to take his time and improve his skills in a less stressful environment first.
