McLaren decision may have cost Norris sprint pole
Max Verstappen took pole for the Austin sprint race, finishing just 0.071 seconds ahead of Lando Norris. McLaren’s choice to send Norris out earlier may have cost him, as Verstappen went last and got better track grip. Oscar Piastri struggled for speed and finished third. Nico Hulkenberg impressed with fourth for Sauber, while Ferrari and Mercedes couldn’t keep up.

Ruggerio wins first NASCAR truck race at Talladega
19-year-old Gio Ruggerio won his first NASCAR Truck Series race at Talladega Superspeedway, leading for 37 of 90 laps from pole. He worked with teammate Corey Heim in the final laps to finish first and second for TRICON Garage. Ruggerio said Heim’s push helped him hold the lead and thanked his team for a fast truck. Kaden Honeycutt finished 10th and is fourth in the standings ahead of the next race at Martinsville.

F1 signs five-year Apple TV deal
Formula 1 will team up with Apple TV for a five-year deal to stream races in the U.S. from 2026, reportedly worth $160 million per year. The deal follows the success of F1 The Movie with Brad Pitt. Apple TV will show all practice, sprint sessions, and races, with some free content. This ends F1’s current broadcast deal with ESPN.

Could NASCAR races return to NBC Sports Network?
NBC Sports Network used to show NASCAR races before it shut down in 2021, and the races went to USA Network. Now, Comcast plans to revive NBC Sports Network as USA Network becomes part of a new company called Versant. This could mean NASCAR races might return to NBC Sports Network in 2026. Nothing is official yet, but changes at NBC could decide where fans watch races in the future.

Suarez linked to Spire Motorsports as Haley exits
Daniel Suarez might drive for Spire Motorsports next year after Justin Haley was released. Suarez left Trackhouse Racing in July and believes he can still get a good team. Haley had a hard season with team changes and bad luck, and he is 31st in points. Suarez will start his 10th Cup season in 2026, and Haley will finish his fifth full season.
