McLaren’s value soars past £3bn
McLaren Racing is now worth over £3 billion, and owners Mumtalakat and CYVN Holdings plan to buy the last 30% of shares so they fully own the team. Those shares belong to groups like MSP Sports Capital, which first invested when McLaren was valued at £560 million in 2020. This season, McLaren is on top in Formula 1 with 12 wins, 25 podiums, and drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri in the top spots. CEO Zak Brown said the team must stay sharp and also wants McLaren to win the Triple Crown again when it joins the World Endurance Championship in 2027.

Hamilton sets painful Ferrari record
Lewis Hamilton has had a hard time in his first season with Ferrari and is behind his teammate Charles Leclerc in the standings. Last Sunday at the Dutch Grand Prix, he spun into the barrier on lap 23. He has not finished on the podium yet and now has the most races (15) without a top-three finish in Ferrari’s history. If he does not get a podium in the next four races, he will break Didier Pironi’s record for the longest wait for a first Ferrari podium.

Schumacher linked to McLaren deal
Mick Schumacher was close to a deal with Cadillac as a reserve F1 driver and WEC racer, but he turned it down. The deal gave him less freedom than he has now with Alpine, so he refused even though it paid more. With Cadillac out, his F1 options look slim, but he may stay in endurance racing and is in talks with McLaren, which will enter WEC in 2027. Cadillac must now find another driver, and Callum Ilott is the favorite.

Ups and downs from the Southern 500 opener
Chase Briscoe led 309 laps at the Southern 500, swept both stages, and scored his second straight Darlington win to add seven playoff points. Tyler Reddick came second with 53 points, moving from 14th to 4th in the playoff standings, while Legacy Motor Club had a strong night as Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek both placed in the top four. Six non-playoff drivers were in the top 10: Jones, Nemechek, AJ Allmendinger, Kyle Busch, Carson Hocevar, and Chris Buescher. On the bad side, Alex Bowman’s long pit stop left him 31st, Christopher Bell’s pit road crash put him 29th, and Josh Berry crashed on the first lap and finished last.

Weug strikes back with Zandvoort domination
The F1 Academy race in the Netherlands had some rain and close races. Maya Weug got pole position, won one race, and finished on the podium in the other, while Nina Gademan won her first race and Lia Block got her first podium. In Race 1, Gademan, Block, and Weug finished in the top three, and in Race 2, Chambers could not start while Weug won easily. After this weekend, Weug moved to second in the championship, 20 points behind Marta García Pin with two races left.
