Luke Browning was born on 31 January 2002. He grew up in the rural area of Kingsley in Cheshire, United Kingdom. As a child, he competed in motocross before his family encouraged him to focus on car racing, as they believed motorbikes were too dangerous. He later transitioned from karting into car racing in 2016. His family supported him closely throughout his early development.

How did Luke Browning get to Formula racing?

Luke Browning’s journey into formula racing began in 2016 when he competed in the Junior Saloon Car Championship. He moved into the Ginetta Junior Championship in 2017 and 2018, where he finished third overall. In 2019, Browning stepped up to British F4 and won his first race. 

He later won the 2020 British F4 Championship with Fortec Motorsport. In 2021, he continued his development by racing in both ADAC F4 and Italian F4. In 2022, he dominated the GB3 Championship and won the title. 

That same year, he also won the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year award. This achievement helped him earn a place in the Williams Racing Driver Academy in 2023, before progressing into FIA Formula 3 and later Formula 2.

Between 2024 and 2025, he took part in several FP1 sessions with Williams. This gave him valuable experience driving a Formula 1 car and working with the team in the simulator. In January 2026, Browning was confirmed as Williams Reserve Driver for the 2026 Formula 1 season.

One of Luke Browning’s early milestones came in 2016 when he won in the Junior Saloon Car Championship. In 2020, he won the British F4 Championship with Fortec Motorsport, finishing the season with seven wins and a dominant points tally. 

In 2022, he won the GB3 Championship and also claimed the Aston Martin Autosport BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award. In November 2023, he won the Macau Grand Prix. In the 2024 FIA Formula 3 season, he won Feature Races in Bahrain and Austria, and finished third overall in the championship.
