What You CAN and CAN'T Bring to the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham

The inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham takes place from August 14-16, bringing Canada's premier IndyCar event to a brand-new street circuit in Markham, Ontario, a city in York Region approximately 50 minutes north of downtown Toronto by car.

With thousands of fans expected to attend and several travel options available, planning how you'll get to and from the circuit will save you time and make your experience much smoother. Whether you're traveling from downtown, elsewhere in the greater Toronto area, or even from way out of town, here's what you need to know.

Entry & Security

Everyone entering the circuit should expect a bag inspection and security screening upon arrival.

To help keep entry lines moving:

  • Pack only what you need.
  • Have your bags ready for inspection.
  • Leave prohibited items at home or locked in your vehicle.

All items brought onto the grounds are there at your own risk. Event organizers are not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged belongings.

What You CAN Bring

While all items are subject to inspection, these are generally permitted inside the event.

Bags

  • Small purses
  • Backpacks
  • Small bags

Convenience Items

  • Empty reusable water bottles
  • Seat cushions
  • Umbrellas (provided they don't block other spectators' views)

Cameras & Electronics

  • Binoculars
  • Radio scanners
  • Cameras
  • Camera tripods or monopods (allowed on the grounds, but not for use in the grandstands or anywhere they obstruct others)

Wheelchairs and Strollers

  • Strollers and wagons for transporting children
  • Mobility devices such as wheelchairs and scooters
  • Note: Guests using wheelchairs or scooters are encouraged to bring a lock if leaving them beneath the grandstands.

What You CAN'T Bring

For the safety and enjoyment of everyone at the circuit, the following items are prohibited.

Food, Beverages, and Drugs

  • NO OUTSIDE FOOD OR BEVERAGES, including alcohol
  • Cannabis
  • Glass bottles and containers
  • Coolers 

Professional Equipment

  • Professional photography or video equipment
  • Camera lenses longer than 10 inches
  • Laptop computers

Large or Obstructive Items

  • Folding chairs
  • Large duffel bags or luggage
  • Banners
  • Scaffolding or temporary structures

Vehicles

  • Bicycles, E-bikes, Scooters
  • Skateboards, Rollerblades
  • Motorcycles and off-road vehicles
  • Golf carts for personal use

Dangerous or Disruptive Items

  • Drones
  • Fireworks, Flares, Firearms, Explosives
  • Knives
  • Laser pointers, Noise makers and air horns, Helium balloons, Beach balls and inflatables
  • Pepper spray or mace
  • Illegal drugs

Animals

  • Pets (service animals are permitted)

Race Day Essentials

Even though these aren't all required, here’s a packing list that will make your race weekend much more enjoyable:

  • Your race ticket (downloaded to your phone before arriving)
  • A portable phone charger
  • Sunscreen (aerosol sunscreen is permitted)
  • A hat and sunglasses
  • Comfortable walking shoes
  • Hearing protection, especially for young children
  • An empty reusable water bottle
  • Credit or debit card for food and merchandise
