Portugal plans grand prix comeback in 2027

Portugal plans to have Formula 1 at the Algarve International Circuit in 2027, with Prime Minister Luís Montenegro stating the country is ready for the race. The Portimão track last held F1 in 2020 and 2021, where Lewis Hamilton made history with his 92nd career win. Montenegro explained that Formula 1 and MotoGP are worth the cost because they generate revenue and promote the Algarve globally. However, Formula 1 has not yet officially agreed, as its calendar is already very full.

Rookie forced out at Richmond after sudden truck fire

Corey Heim won the last regular-season race at Richmond, his seventh victory of the year that kept him at the top of the playoff list. Rookie Dawson Sutton started well but had to stop on lap 223 after an electrical fire in his truck, ending his playoff chances. Jake Garcia finished seventh, which was just enough to take the final playoff spot and push out his teammate Ben Rhodes. With Heim on top and Garcia securing the last place, the 2025 NASCAR Truck Series playoffs are now set.

Dramatic crashes shake SailGP Germany debut

SailGP’s Germany debut started dramatically as the Mubadala Brazil and France teams were damaged in practice. Brazil’s boat hit the water hard, breaking the front beam, so they cannot race this weekend, but no one was hurt. France’s boat also broke when the starboard rudder failed, causing it to leave the foils; Quentin Delapierre went to the hospital and was cleared. Both accidents happened after France’s mast broke at Portsmouth, and investigations are ongoing.

Keselowski warns of tire shortage at Richmond

Brad Keselowski said he is worried that teams may not have enough tires for Saturday night’s 400-lap race at Richmond, but NASCAR will not give out any extra sets. Each team will only have eight new sets plus the starting set, which some say could make the race less exciting with fewer passes and strategies. In practice, lap times dropped by more than three seconds after about 40 laps, showing how tough the track is on tires. Goodyear, however, believes the softer tire is working fine and that teams should still be able to run long enough to finish the race.

The rise of Indycar's GOAT

Alex Palou has done everything people said he couldn’t, rising from a little-known rookie to a four-time IndyCar champion with 14 wins before even winning on an oval. In 2025, he finally won the Indy 500, proved his doubters wrong, and then took a short oval race at Iowa, beating top drivers like Scott Dixon. After a tough 2022 season with contract problems, Palou came back and claimed the 2025 championship with races to spare, breaking records for wins and consistency. Now he wants an oval championship, holds the points lead from start to finish, and has earned his place as one of IndyCar’s all-time greats.
