F1 rules out artificial wet races

Bernie Ecclestone once suggested making artificial wet races in Formula 1, but the idea was rejected because the sport wants racing to stay natural. F1 does change its rules often, like the new 2026 engine and chassis rules, but these changes are to fix problems or bring in new carmakers, not to add fake drama. Andrew Benson said he doesn’t really have “favorites,” but cars like the Ferrari 641, Lotus 72, and McLaren MP4/4 are often seen as the most beautiful, with the Ferrari 641 even shown in the Museum of Modern Art. He also explained that some cars look fast in qualifying because of tire grip, but over a race, their weaknesses in balance, downforce, and tire wear show up, while FIA rules closely control engine and gearbox changes.

Drivers to watch in the Milwaukee Mile 250

The NTT IndyCar Series will race the Snap-On Milwaukee Mile 250 on Sunday, Aug. 24, with practice and qualifying the day before. Alex Palou comes in as the new four-time champion after winning the Indianapolis 500 and an Iowa oval race this year. Pato O’Ward is also one to watch, with wins at Milwaukee last year and at Road America this summer. Will Power, Scott McLaughlin, Josef Newgarden, Santino Ferrucci, Conor Daly, Scott Dixon, and Colton Herta are also contenders, though last year’s results may not show what will happen in 2025.

Why Richmond victory felt like validation for Dillon

Austin Dillon has often been compared to Dale Earnhardt, but at Richmond Raceway, he showed his own strength with a big win. He led 107 laps, raced cleanly against Ryan Blaney, and did it while dealing with a broken rib. The victory locked him into the playoffs and showed how much his new crew chief, Richard Boswell, has helped the team. Dillon knows he’ll never reach Earnhardt’s record, but he says he has earned respect and likes being seen as the underdog who keeps fighting.

O’Reilly named new title sponsor for NASCAR series

Next season, the NASCAR Xfinity Series will change its name to the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series under a new long-term deal. It will be the fourth sponsor in the history of the series, after Busch Beer, Nationwide Insurance, and Comcast Xfinity, which has been the sponsor since 2015. NASCAR and O’Reilly said the partnership is about shared values like passion, teamwork, and connecting with fans while supporting young drivers. Comcast Xfinity will still be part of NASCAR as a premier partner of the Cup Series.

Meet the man behind Winward’s pit stops

Chris Brook spent almost 20 years in NASCAR, working on Matt Kenseth’s pit crew at Roush Racing and winning many races. He joined Winward Racing in 2019 and was impressed by how team owners Russell and Bryce Ward worked alongside the crew. Since then, the team has won ten GTD races in IMSA, including a championship, and they lead the standings this season. Brook now takes care of every Michelin tire for the team and uses his tire knowledge and simple pit stop style to keep them strong.
