Cadillac’s new duo brace for tough debut
Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas will race for Cadillac’s new Formula 1 team in 2026, but both know they might start at the back. Cadillac is better prepared than past new teams, with years of planning and strong support from General Motors. Perez says he just wants to help the team improve and enjoy the challenge, while Bottas says his time at Alfa Romeo taught him how to handle lower results. Even if the first year is tough, both believe Cadillac has what it takes to move forward and fight for success.

NASCAR Daytona ratings take a hit
Ryan Blaney had one of the best finishes of the NASCAR season in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona, but the TV ratings were lower than expected. NBC’s broadcast got a 1.76 rating with 3.297 million viewers, down from last year’s 1.95 rating and 3.5 million viewers. Many fans are unhappy with the Next Gen car and say recent races have not been exciting, even though this race decided two playoff spots. Still, it was the second-most-watched sports event of the week, only behind the PGA Tour Championship, as the playoffs now head to Darlington.

IndyCar partners with iRacing for standalone game in 2026
IndyCar is teaming up with iRacing.com Motorsport Simulations to make a new IndyCar video game for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, coming in late 2026. The game will have career mode, real IndyCar and Indy NXT drivers, online multiplayer, and will be built with iRacing’s own engine. IndyCar drivers and teams, like Scott McLaughlin and Team Penske, will help in the development to keep it realistic. This will be the first official IndyCar video game in more than 20 years.

Inside O’Reilly’s big move into NASCAR’s second division
O’Reilly Auto Parts will take over from Xfinity as the title sponsor of NASCAR’s second-tier series starting January 1, 2026. The championship will be called the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, marking the company’s biggest move in the sport after years of race sponsorships. NASCAR and O’Reilly leaders say the deal shows their shared values and will help support young drivers and fans. Some fans, though, worry the new name is too long and doesn’t have a simple nickname like “NXS.”

BMW unveils 2026 M Hybrid V8 upgrade
BMW M Motorsport is introducing a new design for the M Hybrid V8 in 2026, featuring a smaller grille, updated headlights, and a revised splitter to enhance airflow. These updates are designed to improve the car's performance consistency across all tracks, address issues identified in previous races, and enhance cooling efficiency. Built in collaboration with Dallara, the car has already been tested privately and will be showcased at the Lone Star Le Mans in 2025 before competing in the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2026, pending final approval. BMW is now fifth in the 2025 WEC Hypercar standings, with its best result being fourth at the Qatar 1812 km.
