Ex-steward Tim Mayer set to announce FIA presidency bid
Tim Mayer, a veteran motorsport official and former long-time FIA steward, plans to run against current FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem in the December 2025 election. Mayer was removed from his stewarding role in November 2024 after he took part in a hearing that Ben Sulayem reportedly saw as a personal attack. His firing happened during a time when several top FIA officials were also let go. Mayer will officially launch his campaign near Silverstone on Friday, and although he hasn’t spoken publicly yet, people close to him say he has enough support to run.

NASCAR makes a move for Will Power
Will Power says he would love to race in NASCAR one day, even though his future in IndyCar is still unclear. He shared that a NASCAR team recently texted him about driving in an Xfinity race, and he’s open to the idea. Power joked about trying to keep his current IndyCar seat but said he has spoken to team owner Roger Penske about it. After many years focused only on IndyCar, Power now feels ready to try something different, even if it’s just one NASCAR or truck race.

Top contenders to watch at Mid-Ohio
The second half of the IndyCar season kicks off at Mid-Ohio, where Alex Palou enters with a dominant 93-point lead after winning six of the first nine races, including the Indianapolis 500. Palou's road course form has been stellar, and he's aiming to extend his lead further this Sunday. Kyle Kirkwood, the only other multi-race winner this season with three victories, sits second in the standings and will look to close the gap. Meanwhile, Pato O'Ward, last year's winner at Mid-Ohio, is still chasing his first win of 2025 and hopes to go back-to-back to stay in the title fight.

Daniel Suarez will leave Trackhouse Racing after the 2025 season. He will likely be replaced by 19-year-old Connor Zilisch, who races in the Xfinity Series. Suarez is now looking for a new team, and Kaulig Racing, Legacy Motor Club, and Spire Motorsports are possible options. If he can’t stay in the Cup Series, he might return to the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports.
