Piastri struggles to find form at COTA
Oscar Piastri had a hard time all weekend at the United States Grand Prix. He crashed in the sprint race and will start Sunday’s race behind his teammate Lando Norris. His car was difficult to handle on the bumpy track, and his setup made things tougher. Because he didn’t get much practice and crashed early, Piastri faces a tough race to keep his lead in the championship.

McDowell wins pole for Talladega playoff race
Michael McDowell earned pole position for the YellaWood 500 at Talladega with a fast lap of 182.466 mph, just 0.019 seconds ahead of Chase Briscoe. It’s his eighth career pole and second this season as his new Spire Motorsports team proved their speed. McDowell said Talladega mostly comes down to keeping things clean and praised his team and engine builders for their hard work. Kyle Busch starts third, while playoff drivers Ryan Blaney and Christopher Bell line up further back.

Hyett & Fidani wins major IMSA awards
P.J. Hyett and Orey Fidani won special awards in 2025 that let them race in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans. Hyett earned his award as the best Bronze driver in the LMP2 class, while Fidani was the top Bronze driver in the Grand Daytona class. Hyett won an important race at Road America and helped his team win the championship. Fidani won the big Rolex 24 race at Daytona and will go back to Le Mans next year with his team.

NASCAR’s Connor Zilisch aims for Supercars
Connor Zilisch, 19, is a NASCAR star who won 10 Xfinity races this year and will race full-time for Trackhouse Racing in 2026 with Shane van Gisbergen. He was supposed to make his Supercars debut at the Adelaide Grand Final in November but had to wait because Triple Eight Race Engineering switched to Ford. Zilisch, who races Chevrolets, also drove in the Daytona 24 Hours in a Corvette with van Gisbergen and Scott McLaughlin. He still wants to race in Supercars in the future and compete against the best drivers.

ELMS champions book places for 2026 Le Mans
After the final ELMS race in Portimão, four teams earned spots to race in the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans. VDS Panis Racing and Inter Europol got invites for being first and second in the LMP2 championship, while AO by TF got theirs through the LMP2 Pro/Am title. TF Sport also earned an invite through the LMGT3 title with their Corvette. These teams join others who already got invites earlier this year, and two more will be given out in the Asian Le Mans Series this winter.
