Kvapil to race full time for JR Motorsports
Carson Kvapil was first announced to share JR Motorsports’ No. 1 Chevrolet with Connor Zilisch in 2026, which looked like a demotion. Even without a win, Kvapil reached the Championship 4 in 2025, proving he can compete. Later, JR Motorsports confirmed he will race full-time in 2026, though he may drive different cars in the season. He will try to get his first career win and make the Championship 4 again, while Justin Allgaier and Sammy Smith will stay full-time in the No. 7 and No. 8 cars.

Joe Gibbs Racing searches for temporary driver
Brent Crews signed a full-time deal with Joe Gibbs Racing for 2026, but he cannot race the full season because he does not turn 18 until late March. His age blocks him from four of the first seven events, so the team must place another driver in the No. 19 car for those rounds. He can race at COTA, Phoenix and Martinsville because those tracks fit age-limit rules, and his first race as an 18-year-old will be at Rockingham in early April. Joe Gibbs Racing has not confirmed which substitute will cover the early races, though Aric Almirola or other team drivers could step in.
