Why Mexico’s FP1 belongs to the rookies this weekend

Nine rookie drivers are in FP1 at the Mexican Grand Prix because F1 rules say new drivers must get practice time. Teams pick Mexico because the track is tricky, changes a lot, and FP1 doesn’t affect car setup much. Regular drivers skip the session to stay safe while rookies learn. This lets young drivers like Crawford, Lindblad, Browning, and Aron show their skills.

Beard Motorsports ends season after best 2024 finish

Beard Motorsports ended their 2025 NASCAR Cup season after a 21st-place result at Talladega, their best since 2024. Driver Anthony Alfredo had a rough year and did not make the Daytona 500. The team will skip the rest of the season but plans to return in 2026. They aim to qualify for the Daytona 500, as they have every year since 2017.

Heinrich to race Porsche Hypercar in Bahrain

Laurin Heinrich will race for Porsche in the final WEC round in Bahrain in the No. 5 car. It will be his first WEC race, first time in a Hypercar, and first run at Bahrain. Andlauer returns for the event after back pain kept him out of Petit Le Mans. Porsche aims to win the Hypercar titles before its factory WEC program changes after Bahrain.

Zane Smith extends deal with Front Row

Zane Smith will stay with Front Row Motorsports to drive the No. 38 Ford Mustang. He’ll keep the same crew chief and teammates next year. Smith first joined the team in 2022 and won the Truck Series title. This season, he has five top-10 finishes and is 27th in points.

What we learned from the Mexican GP

Pierre Gasly said Colapinto made a bad move but wants the team to stay united. Carlos Sainz was upset about his penalty and thinks the FIA rules are unfair. Max Verstappen said Red Bull’s upgrades made the car faster and better for his style. Yuki Tsunoda apologized for his comments about Liam Lawson as they both fight for a seat next year.
