Why F1’s broken rules need fixing

Recent F1 incidents show that the sport’s “guidelines” are being treated like strict rules, which causes confusion and harsh penalties. The current system focuses too much on exact car positions, punishing normal racing, and stopping drivers from racing naturally. Experts suggest having a permanent panel of stewards use their experience, while drivers take responsibility, instead of following too many detailed rules. Teams and drivers have also tried to take advantage of the guidelines, so bringing back the idea of a “racing incident” is needed to make F1 fairer.

The victory secured his place in the Round of 8 as he continues chasing the championship with Front Row Motorsports. Ben Rhodes, Corey Heim, Ty Majeski, and Daniel Hemric completed the top five finishers. In the playoff standings, Jake Garcia and Chandler Smith dropped below the cutline after mechanical issues and setbacks.

Emirates GBR chase repeat win in Saint-Tropez

The Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team is back in Saint-Tropez this weekend, aiming to repeat their 2023 win, this time with Dylan Fletcher as driver instead of Sir Ben Ainslie. The racecourse is famous for strong winds, and new high-speed rudders and safety software will be used for the first time to help control the boats. Emirates GBR recently had good results in Portsmouth and Sassnitz, even managing a podium after heavy damage from a crash. They are now third in the championship, and a strong result in Saint-Tropez is key to reaching the Grand Final in Abu Dhabi.

How the championship stands with eight races to go

The 2025 F1 season still has eight races left, and Oscar Piastri is 31 points ahead of Lando Norris. Piastri is in control, but history shows that big leads like this have been lost before. Retirements, mistakes, or sudden changes in form can quickly change the fight. For Norris to have a chance, Piastri must slip up, or Norris must start winning more.
