Why F1 may never solve wet weather racing

Formula 1 can’t fix its visibility problem in wet races because the spray comes from under the car, not just the tires. At the Belgian Grand Prix, some drivers like Max Verstappen were upset about the long delay, but others like George Russell and Fred Vasseur said the FIA made the right call to wait for safety reasons. The FIA tested wheel covers to reduce spray, but they didn’t work because most of the water comes from the car’s floor and diffuser. Since fixing the spray would hurt car performance, F1 may have to keep delaying races until the track is safer.

Alpine delays IMSA entry amid market uncertainty

Alpine has paused its plans to enter the U.S. road car market and IMSA’s GTP class due to economic concerns, market shifts, and high import tariffs. The company is now focusing on strengthening its existing markets and cutting costs, which includes delaying side projects like U.S. expansion. Although the A424 LMDh car is eligible for IMSA, Alpine says racing in the U.S. only makes sense once the brand is ready to sell cars there. Talks with Andretti Autosport in the past never led to a formal program, and any future IMSA entry remains uncertain for now.

Winners and losers from Laguna Seca

Alex Palou took another win at Laguna Seca and now has a 121-point lead in the championship with only three races left. Pato O’Ward started beside him and tried to stay close but ended up fourth and lost more ground. Kyffin Simpson and Felix Rosenqvist crashed on the first lap, while rookie Jacob Abel didn’t finish again after going off track. IndyCar was criticized for waiting too long to call a caution when Marcus Ericsson’s car stopped on a dangerous part of the track.

Lindblad breaks silence after Spa disqualification

Arvid Lindblad was disqualified from the F2 feature race at Spa because his tire pressures were too low for wet conditions. He had finished second and was expected to win after Alex Dunne got a 10-second penalty, but officials removed Lindblad from the results after checking his tires. Lindblad said on social media that he and his team didn’t get what they deserved but promised to keep fighting at the next race in Hungary. The penalty hurt his chances in the F2 title race, and he is now 41 points behind leader Leonardo Fornaroli with five rounds left.
