QIA to buy 30% stake in Audi team

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is set to purchase a 30% stake in the Audi F1 team, which currently competes as Sauber. Sky News reports that the deal, valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, will be announced ahead of the 2024 Qatar Grand Prix. Sauber is yet to score any points this season and has been targeted by QIA for its growth potential in F1. This investment would mark Qatar’s first major motorsport move, following its acquisition of Paris Saint-Germain and the 10-year deal to host the Qatar Grand Prix through 2033.

Ferrari also wanted Lewis Hamilton to replace Sainz, but a sponsor commitment kept him from joining, so Hamilton’s first run with Ferrari will be in January.

How was the Las Vegas GP?

The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix has come and gone, yet opinions still differ on whether it was truly successful. Despite the massive turnout, as with most street races, there were plenty of locals who weren’t happy about the event. Was the racing good? Perhaps not as exciting as last year, but still better than many other races.
