SQ1 saw the elimination of both Williams drivers with Logan Sargeant finishing in 20th and Alex Albon finishing in 19th. Guanyu Zhou didn't have the best shootout session, only putting his Alfa Romeo in 18th. After a terrific qualifying session yesterday, Lance Stroll was disappointed to only put his Aston Martin in 17th. Esteban Ocon finished in 16th after crashing into the barriers, which red flagged the session with 30 seconds left in SQ1.
SQ2 was quite delayed as the crash barriers had to be repaired after Ocon went into it during SQ1. Fernando Alonso was unable to get out of the garage for SQ2 after suffering from some damage because of the contact he made with Ocon in the SQ1. Valtteri Bottas was only able to put his Alfa Romeo in 14th, just behind the Alpine of Pierre Gasly. Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen had a solid qualifying with the two drivers finishing the session in 11th and 12th.
SQ3 was short as most of the drivers went out for only one lap at the last minute. The Alpha Tauri drivers performed very well today with Yuki Tsunoda qualifying in 6th and Daniel Ricciardo qualifying in 8th. George Russell finished the session in 4th, just ahead of his Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton. Oscar Piastri seemed to have struggled slightly and only put his McLaren in 10th, just behind the Ferrari of Carlos Sainz. Charles Leclerc finished in 7th, splitting the two Alpha Tauri drivers. Lando Norris took a brilliant pole with Max Verstappen starting behind him in 2nd and the Red Bull of Sergio Perez in 3rd.
