Sainz discards crisis claims at Ferrari

Carlos Sainz denies that Ferrari is in a "crisis" in Formula 1, suggesting that such claims aim to destabilize the team. Ferrari has faced challenges in the 2023 season, with their SF-23 off the pace compared to Red Bull's RB19. Despite reliability concerns and a difficult start to the season, Sainz emphasizes that the team knows what needs improvement and is working on short, medium, and long-term targets. Sainz adds that Ferrari is "most affected" by the lack of results and remains focused on improvement.

Essential guide to Australian GP tire choices

The Australian Grand Prix returns to the calendar with the same tire choice as in 2019: C2, C3, and C4 compounds. While the 2022 race, won by Charles Leclerc, was a one-stopper using hard and medium tires, this year's tire options offer more strategic possibilities. With its flowing corners and average energy demands, Melbourne's track is expected to evolve throughout the weekend, with recent modifications enhancing overtaking and overall excitement.

Bottas doubts need to ditch F1 tire blankets

Valtteri Bottas has joined other F1 drivers in questioning the decision to remove tire blankets starting next season. While Max Verstappen predicted more crashes and Lewis Hamilton called the move dangerous, Bottas warned that cold tires would be challenging to bring to optimal operating temperatures and might wear out more quickly. He acknowledges Pirelli's efforts in addressing the issue but remains skeptical about the change.

Vowles says spark rekindled at Williams

James Vowles, the new team principal at Williams F1, believes the team has a "spark" after implementing initial changes under his leadership. The historic team has faced challenges recently but aims to turn its fortunes around. Vowles' first major appointment was hiring Frederic Brousseau as Chief Operating Officer, who brings vast experience from the aerospace industry. Vowles is continuing his search for technical talent to supplement the existing team members and drive progress.

Practice session controversy

Stefano Domenicali, Formula One Group CEO, has suggested eliminating free practice sessions from F1 weekends, as they appeal more to engineers than the public. Although not planning to scrap the sessions entirely, discussions are underway to increase their importance and make them more engaging, possibly by offering rewards or points. Conversations are also ongoing about the current Sprint race weekend format.
