McLaren releases three junior drivers

McLaren has released Ugo Ugochukwu, Martinius Stenshorne, and Brando Badoer from its young driver program. This comes after Alex Dunne also left the team earlier this year. The team has added Matteo De Palo, who will race in Formula 3 next year. He joins Pato O’Ward, Dries Van Langendonck, and Ella Lloyd in McLaren’s new academy lineup.

Gary Putnam named Whelen tour director

Gary Putnam is the new boss of the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, after Jimmy Wilson. He has worked in NASCAR for almost 40 years as a crew chief and car chief, and won big races like the Daytona 500. Putnam has also raced in the series himself, with top-10 finishes in 34 races. He will work to make the series better for drivers, fans, and officials.

Mir makes history in UAE karting debut

Atiqa Mir, a 10-year-old racer from India, got pole position and finished third in the first round of the Formula 1 Academy COTFA UAE karting series. She is the first girl to ever get pole in the COTFA mini class and also won a heat race. The series uses the same cars and engines for all drivers so talent shows through. Her father, Asif Mir, said it was a “bittersweet” weekend, proud of her effort even though she didn’t win.

Did a burger deal doom Piastri’s podiums?

Grill’d changed its Oscar Piastri burger deal after he went several races without a podium. The original deal gave a free burger when he got top three, but he hasn’t since Monza and lost the championship lead. The new deal now works “when Oscar races,” which fans joked about as a “burger curse.” Many people online joked the burger brought him bad luck.

NASCAR’s Cindric to debut in Adelaide Supercars

NASCAR driver Cindric will race for Tickford Racing as a wildcard in Adelaide. He will spend a few days at the workshop and with the team at Sandown. He will drive the Gen3 Mustang for the first time after that. The team believes he will adapt quickly despite limited experience in the car.
