Pirelli may rethink C6 tire after pushback

Pirelli says it understands why some teams are having trouble with the new C6 tire, which hasn’t shown a big performance gain over the older C5. The C6 was meant to improve qualifying and push teams toward two-stop races, but it has made some races more boring because teams now manage tires more easily. Many drivers said the C6 feels strange and hard to trust, so some chose to use the C5 instead in recent races. Because of this, Pirelli may not use the C6 in some future races and plans to improve it next year by making it clearly faster than the C5.

IndyCar officially delays new chassis to 2028 season

IndyCar has announced that a new, lighter chassis developed with Dallara will debut in 2028, featuring a 2.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, replacing the current 2.2-liter version. The new design will weigh up to 100 pounds less, including a gearbox that is 25 pounds lighter, and will maintain safety features like the aeroscreen. Hybrid technology introduced in 2024 will also be part of the new car, offering longer energy deployment, added horsepower, and better performance. IndyCar President Doug Boles says the new car aims to improve safety, boost on-track competition, and meet demands across all circuit types.

Pocono race could shake up playoff picture

Eight of the top ten starters at Pocono, including Chris Buescher, Chase Briscoe, and Carson Hocevar, have yet to win this season, so this race could change the playoff picture. Denny Hamlin starts on pole and looks for his second straight win after missing Mexico due to the birth of his child; he already holds the record for most wins at Pocono. Bubba Wallace and William Byron will start at the rear due to mechanical issues, while differing pit strategies, including potential three-stop plans, could shake up the order. Chase Elliott is aiming for back-to-back top-10s for the first time since April as he continues a consistent but winless season.

What it takes to mount 5,000 tires for IMSA

In IMSA racing, tires are crucial to performance and safety. Michelin, the official tire supplier, brings thousands of tires to each event. But instead of preparing them all themselves, they rely on the Jackson Marketing Group, which mounts, balances, and organizes each one to ensure it’s ready for race day. So what does it take to mount more than 5,000 Michelin tires during a race weekend? Take a look!
