Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren unveil upgrades for Austria

Ferrari, Red Bull, and McLaren have all brought upgrades to the Austrian Grand Prix, with Ferrari introducing the most extensive changes, including a new floor design with updated fences, diffuser tweaks, and tunnel reshaping to boost overall aerodynamic load. Red Bull’s upgrade is more limited, featuring a modified floor edge wing designed to improve flow stability and load near the rear tires.

Logano earns $1m in NASCAR promotion program

Joey Logano won a $1 million bonus for finishing first in NASCAR’s new Driver Ambassador Program, which gives points to drivers for promoting the sport through interviews and appearances. NASCAR said the top three drivers for the first term were Logano, Kyle Larson, and Ryan Blaney. The program has two parts each year, and the top driver in each part gets $1 million, while the last-place driver gets about $7,500. Sports Business Journal said the prize money comes from NASCAR’s new media deal.

Wittmann replaces Frijns for Sao Paulo WEC round

Marco Wittmann will drive BMW’s No. 20 car at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo because Robin Frijns will race in Formula E at Berlin that weekend. Sebastien Buemi, Stoffel Vandoorne, and Jean-Eric Vergne will also skip Sao Paulo for Formula E, so seven cars, including Toyota and Peugeot entries, will run with only two drivers. Porsche teammates Kevin Estre and Laurens Vanthoor will share the No. 6 car, Anthony McIntosh and Yuichi Nakayama will replace absent LMGT3 drivers, and Michelle Gatting is set to return after injury. The race at Interlagos takes place on July 11-13.

Ferrari unveils 296 GT3 Evo for 2026 GT3 debut

Ferrari has shown off its new 296 GT3 Evo, which will start racing in 2026 in GT3 events around the world. The car still uses the same 3.0-liter V6 twin-turbo engine but comes with better suspension, gear ratios, and big changes to its body for more speed and stability. Cooling for the brakes and cockpit has been improved, and the air conditioning system now has an extra fan for driver comfort. Teams can buy the car as a full new model or just get an upgrade kit, but Ferrari hasn’t said how much it will cost or when it will race for the first time.
