Sainz to skip media day after falling ill

Carlos Sainz won’t do media interviews at the São Paulo Grand Prix because he is sick. He was supposed to talk to reporters before the sprint and main race. Williams said he will stay at the team hotel and hopes to race this weekend. Last year, he missed the Saudi Arabian GP due to appendicitis, and reserve driver Oliver Bearman raced instead and finished seventh.

Jimmie Johnson set for San Diego debut

Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson will race again in 2026 at his hometown in San Diego. The race will happen on June 21 at Naval Base Coronado, the city’s first NASCAR event. Johnson said it’s a dream come true to race near home and honor his family’s military background. It’s not yet known if this will be his last NASCAR race.

IndyCar confirms Phoenix test for 2026

IndyCar will test at Phoenix Raceway this week to get ready for its return in March 2026. Scott Dixon and Alexander Rossi will drive to help Firestone test tires and car settings on the new track surface. The last IndyCar race there was in 2018 before the track was changed and repaved. Another test in January will help finish plans for the joint NASCAR and IndyCar event.

McLaren partners with Commercial bank for Qatar GP

Mastercard has helped Commercial Bank in Qatar become the Official Race Partner of the McLaren team for the next three Qatar races. The bank’s logo will be shown on McLaren cars and drivers’ helmets. Mastercard already works closely with McLaren and will become the team’s main name partner in 2026. Both Mastercard and Commercial Bank say the deal will offer new benefits to their customers and promote innovation.

Connor Zilisch to race Cadillac at Daytona

19 year old NASCAR driver Connor Zilisch will drive Cadillac’s top car for the first time at the IMSA test at Daytona from November 14 to 16. He will share the car with Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti as Cadillac decides if he will join them for the 2026 Daytona 24 Hours. This comes shortly after Zilisch lost his chance to test in Bahrain because he did not have enough license points. Zilisch, who will move to the NASCAR Cup Series in 2026, said this test is a big chance to chase his dream of endurance competition.
