Jack Doohan has been axed from his Alpine seat after just six races in 2025, including a first-lap crash in Miami, and will be replaced by Franco Colapinto for the next five rounds. The 22-year-old Australian's position had been under pressure since Colapinto joined as a reserve driver under Flavio Briatore's watch in January. FIA could scrap cost cap

The FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem, is considering scrapping Formula 1's cost cap, saying it causes more problems than benefits and questioning its purpose. The cap, which was introduced in 2021 to control spending and bring the teams closer in performance, currently limits budgets to around $140 million. His remarks came during a tense moment between McLaren and Red Bull. Red Bull accused McLaren of illegally cooling its tires using water, but no evidence was found to support the claim. Ben Sulayem supported a proposal from McLaren's Zak Brown that any protest fee be deducted from a team's cost cap unless the protest is upheld.
