How Russell fought illness to take Baku podium

George Russell was sick during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and said that if the race had been in Singapore, he would have pulled out. He missed Thursday’s media events and felt very weak in Friday's practice, with Toto Wolff saying it was “touch and go” if he could race, while Valtteri Bottas was ready to replace him. Even so, Russell qualified fifth and drove well on Sunday, using the hard tire to finish second. Wolff praised him for not making mistakes and said that with a better qualifying, he might have fought Max Verstappen for the win.

Blaney wins New Hampshire to open round of 12

Ryan Blaney won the NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire, passing Josh Berry with 39 laps to go and finishing less than a second ahead. Joey Logano led the most laps but lost spots after pit stops, which helped Blaney move forward. The win was Blaney’s 16th in his career and his third this season, securing him a place in the Round of 8. Berry came second, followed by William Byron, Logano, and Chase Elliott, in a race that had eight cautions, including a crash between Denny Hamlin and his teammate Ty Gibbs.

Aussies survive chaos to lead SailGP again

The BONDS Flying Roos moved back to the top of the 2025 SailGP standings after finishing second at the Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix in Geneva. Stormy weather made racing very difficult, with delays, weak winds, and big changes on the leaderboard, while Brazil’s team could not race after their boat was damaged. In the final, Germany won, but Tom Slingsby’s Australian crew held on to take second place ahead of Switzerland. The result puts the Aussies on 76 points, just above Great Britain and New Zealand, with two races left before the $3M Grand Final in Abu Dhabi.

23XI drops to bottom of playoff grid

23XI Racing is now last in the NASCAR Cup Series playoff standings after a tough race at New Hampshire. Tyler Reddick finished 21st and dropped to 23 points below the cutline, while Bubba Wallace came 26th and is now 27 points back. Reddick only earned two stage points, and Wallace earned none as both drivers struggled to find speed. Even though they have both won before at Kansas Speedway, they are not confident and say the team needs to find something extra to bounce back.

Aitken leads Whelen Cadillac to victory at IMS

Jack Aitken jumped into the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen car with just over 80 minutes left and brought it home for a tense overall and GTP class win at Indianapolis alongside Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti. It was Cadillac’s first victory of the season and Whelen’s first since Sebring 2023, but the race ended with drama as multiple cautions set up a two-lap shootout. Aitken held off Ricky Taylor to win by less than a second, giving Cadillac a 1-2 finish, while Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun finished third. Class wins also went to TDS Racing in LMP2, Ford Multimatic in GTD Pro, and Inception Racing’s Ferrari in GTD.
