Williams rebuilds finances despite £50m loss
Williams reported a £49.8m ($67.3m) loss for 2024, but revenues rose to nearly £180m and the team’s finances improved compared to 2023. The squad boosted its liquidity to £25m and net assets to £130m, thanks to large share allotments that raised over £550m during the year. Dorilton Capital has now injected more than £1.5 billion since acquiring the team in 2020, with Williams’ valuation climbing to around £920 million and strengthened further by major sponsorships, such as those from Atlassian. On track, Carlos Sainz’s podium and the team’s rise to fifth in the Constructors’ standings with 101 points signal progress that should secure higher prize money and stronger stability going forward.

Van Gisbergen goes for fifth straight at Roval
Shane van Gisbergen will try to win his fifth straight NASCAR Cup road course race Sunday at the Charlotte Roval, which would leave him one short of Jeff Gordon’s record. The race also serves as an elimination round, shrinking the playoff field from 12 drivers to 8. Joey Logano holds the final transfer spot, while 23XI Racing teammates Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick sit below the cutline despite strong road course performances this season. Several teams enter with mixed momentum, but all eyes are on van Gisbergen’s dominance and whether he can extend his streak.

The 10-hour race takes place from October 8 to 11, and Conquest hopes to repeat its GTD class victory from last year.

Hamlin clears the air on Wallace’s middle finger
Bubba Wallace was close to winning at Kansas Speedway and moving on in the playoffs, but Denny Hamlin hit him in the final turn, and Chase Elliott took the win instead. After the race, Wallace cursed Hamlin on the radio and gave him the middle finger. Hamlin said he understood Wallace’s anger as a driver but noted it would be a problem if Wallace disrespected him as a team owner. Now Wallace likely needs a win at Charlotte to stay in the playoffs, while Hamlin is safe on points.

Toyota targets Le Mans return with GR010 upgrade
Toyota will bring its first big update to the GR010 HYBRID Le Mans Hypercar since 2021 for the 2026 World Endurance Championship. Kazuki Nakajima said testing will begin in October, as the team looks to win Le Mans again after last taking victory in 2022. Team boss Kamui Kobayashi explained they want to build a car so fast it can still win even under strict Balance of Performance rules. The new aero package will be tested and approved under the Evo Joker system, with work scheduled to take place in the Windshear wind tunnel in North Carolina.
