FIA activates heat protocol for Singapore GP
The FIA has activated its heat hazard protocol for the first time ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, as drivers prepare to race in soaring 31°C temperatures with extreme humidity. To handle the heat, drivers can either wear a cooling vest that regulates body temperature or accept a 0.5kg ballast to keep competition fair. While the vest helps reduce the risk of exhaustion, it can restrict movement in the cockpit, and the ballast can impact car performance. These conditions make this year’s Singapore race not only a test of speed but also of endurance, strategy, and resilience.
