Ferrari surprises Pope Leo XIV with Leclerc steering wheel
Pope Leo XIV was given a Ferrari steering wheel used by Charles Leclerc and a scale model of the SF90 XX Stradale during a private event with Ferrari chairman John Elkann. The Pope showed interest in the steering wheel as Elkann explained it was the real one from Leclerc’s car. Ferrari has gifted the Vatican before, including Michael Schumacher’s 2003 steering wheel and a Ferrari Enzo once presented to Pope Benedict XVI. The moment quickly spread online, with clips gaining traction on social media.

Jusan Hamilton leaves NASCAR role
Jusan Hamilton, one of NASCAR’s two full-time race directors, has parted ways with the organization after working there since 2016. He was responsible for key duties, including deciding caution flags, and also helped build the season schedules. NASCAR did not give a reason for his exit, which comes as speculation grows about possible playoff format changes. With his departure, Tim Bermann will handle race director duties alone for the rest of the 2025 season.

Could Schumacher swap WEC for IndyCar?
Mick Schumacher will do his first IndyCar test with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing on October 13 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The 26-year-old, son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher, now races in the World Endurance Championship with Alpine and has four podiums, after making 44 F1 starts with Haas in 2021-22. He said he is excited to try an IndyCar, see how tough it is to drive, and race at Indianapolis, where his father won five times in F1. Team co-owner Bobby Rahal said Schumacher has great talent and the team is happy to give him this chance.

Truex Jr. cries out after finding his trophies online
Martin Truex Jr., a former NASCAR champion, stated on September 25 that some of his trophies had been sold online without his knowledge. He explained that the trophies were special to him and he never gave them away. A company called Race Day Authentics stated that it purchased the trophies from someone who had worked with Truex for many years and was told they were gifts. The company has now spoken with Truex and plans to return the trophies; however, it’s unclear how many were sold.

BMW eyes 2027 for IMSA customer cars
Team WRT is expected to run the BMW M Hybrid V8 in IMSA next season, though the official announcement has not yet been made. BMW Motorsport boss Andreas Roos confirmed there is interest from several teams for customer cars in IMSA, but he doubts anything will happen before 2027. BMW may also face changes in GTD Pro, as Paul Miller Racing is considering a manufacturer switch for 2026 despite past success with BMW. If they leave, Random Vandals Racing could take over BMW’s role in that category.
