Why Pirelli’s Mugello tire test produced little data
Pirelli’s Formula 1 tyre test at Mugello was disrupted by rain, stopping the planned work on Hard compounds for 2026. Ferrari and Haas had to use Intermediate and Wet tires, which limited the running. Mario Isola said it was disappointing but noted that the wet tire data will still be useful. Ferrari ran Charles Leclerc and Zhou Guanyu, while Haas used Oliver Bearman, Esteban Ocon, and Romain Grosjean, who drove an F1 car for the first time since his 2020 Bahrain crash.

Is NASCAR too dependent on TV deals?
Brad Keselowski stated that NASCAR relies too heavily on TV revenue, which causes numerous problems within the sport. He explained that tracks don’t generate enough revenue themselves, so teams rely mostly on sponsors, and drivers feel pressure to please these companies. Keselowski said that some tracks, like Las Vegas and Charlotte, generate extra income through events, but many others don’t, and it hurts NASCAR.

McLaren Racing deal finalized at $4.1b
Zak Brown confirmed that McLaren Racing’s $4.1 billion stake sale to Mumtalakat and CYVN Holdings is complete. The deal grants the two investors full ownership of McLaren Racing, following their acquisition of an additional 30% stake. Brown said Formula 1 is stronger than ever, with more fans, sponsors, and competitive racing thanks to Liberty Media’s cost cap. He also said the sport’s value has not peaked and still has plenty of room to grow.

Two Cup chiefs ejected at Kansas for violations
Stephen Doran, crew chief for Shane van Gisbergen, was ejected at Kansas Speedway for making unapproved adjustments before practice. NASCAR penalized the team by taking away its pit stall choice, moving van Gisbergen to the back of the field, and giving him a stop-and-go penalty at the start. He had been set to start 24th in the 37-car field for Sunday’s race. Earlier, Michael McDowell’s crew chief, Travis Peterson, was also ejected after his car failed inspection for an unapproved splitter adjustment.

Tomlinson and Lam break into TCR top ten at Indy
The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race at Indianapolis was packed with cautions and drama, but it ended with Megan Tomlinson and Christina Lam both breaking into the top ten of the TCR class. Tomlinson and her father, Ron, charged from 14th on the grid to finish eighth in the #37 Audi after staying consistent through the chaos. Lam, in her first race with Rockwell Autosport’s #10 Hyundai, moved forward late in the race to take tenth. It was a big result for Tomlinson at the famous track and Lam’s second top-ten of the season.
