Was Silverstone the turning point for Piastri?

Oscar Piastri was clearly upset after getting a 10-second penalty at the British Grand Prix, which cost him a likely win and helped teammate Lando Norris close the gap in the title fight. Even though Piastri is known for staying calm, he showed how badly he wants to win by asking McLaren to give him the place back. He has worked hard to get to this point, moving away from home at 14 to chase his F1 dream and staying focused on racing ever since. With Verstappen falling behind and only Piastri and Norris in the fight, the big question now is whether their friendly partnership will survive the growing pressure.

23XI, Front Row file restraining order to keep charters

23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports filed for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction to stop NASCAR from revoking their six charters before the end of the 2025 season. They claim NASCAR plans to immediately sell the charters, which would force their drivers to qualify on speed and possibly repay money already earned. NASCAR responded by calling the motion unnecessary and accused the teams of refusing to offer a proposal to resolve the lawsuit. Meanwhile, Legacy Motor Club is also in court, arguing that Rick Ware Racing failed to disclose plans to sell its team, which could affect a disputed charter lease agreement.

Lundqvist may replace Siegel in Toronto

Nolan Siegel crashed in Race 1 at Iowa and was later diagnosed with a mild concussion, so he might not be able to race in Toronto. Arrow McLaren has confirmed that Linus Lundqvist will serve as their reserve driver if Siegel is not cleared by the medical team on Thursday. Lundqvist, a former Indy NXT champion and 2023 Rookie of the Year, raced with Chip Ganassi Racing last season before his contract was terminated for 2025. If Siegel remains sidelined, Lundqvist could continue to race for Arrow McLaren throughout July as the team prioritizes Siegel’s recovery.

BT brings 5G network slicing to SailGP

SailGP is working with BT to use 5G network slicing at the upcoming Portsmouth event, giving different parts of the race their own strong and reliable connection. This will include broadcast cameras, boat communications, payment systems in the shop, and fast photo uploads for the media. It will be the first time BT uses more than one slice at the same event, with help from Ericsson and Nokia to set it all up. The setup will also include a new AR/VR fan experience to show how 5G can improve live sports events.
