FIA sets 2026 rules to avoid one-team dominance

Formula 1 will bring big changes to chassis and engines in 2026, removing the expensive MGU-H and making power units simpler to close the performance gap. The FIA says this should stop one team from dominating like Mercedes did in 2014 and has introduced the ADUO system to help weaker engine makers. After the first five races, if an engine is more than 3% slower than the best, the manufacturer will get extra money, testing time, and upgrade chances. There will also be cost cap relief for teams with serious reliability issues so they can recover and stay competitive.

Richmond set to decide final NASCAR playoff spots

There are still three playoff spots open as the Cup Series heads to Richmond, with Tyler Reddick (+117), Alex Bowman (+60), and Chris Buescher (+34) holding the last spots above the cut line. Reddick is in a good place to make it, Bowman needs to avoid surprise winners, and Buescher, right on the bubble, must gain on Bowman before Daytona to stay safe. Ryan Preece (-34) and 19 other drivers must win to get in, including Austin Dillon, Kyle Busch, Daniel Suarez, and Brad Keselowski, whose win would bump teammate Buescher out. Teams like Front Row, Spire, Kaulig, Legacy, and Joe Gibbs’ No. 54 with Ty Gibbs also need a win to reach the playoffs.

Genesis Magma GMR-001 begins track testing

Genesis Magma Racing has released the first track images of its GMR-001 Hypercar, completed in early August by chassis partner Oreca and driven at Paul Ricard by Pipo Derani and Andre Lotterer. The team has started an extensive European testing program, with Oreca continuing to assist in development. Hyundai is still building its racing team as it prepares for the GMR-001’s first race on March 28, 2026, at the 1812 km of Qatar. They have four to five months to finish development before the car undergoes FIA homologation, which will freeze its design.

British talents impress across junior series in 2025

Britain’s young racing talents have been delivering big moments in Formula 2, Formula 3, and F1 Academy during the 2025 season. In Formula 2, Luke Browning holds fourth in the standings with seven podiums but is still chasing his first win, while Arvid Lindblad made history as the youngest F2 race winner and has two victories despite a recent dip in form. In Formula 3, Callum Voisin scored a podium in Bahrain and strong results in Monaco, but his points haul has slowed in the later rounds. In F1 Academy, Alisha Palmowski’s maiden win in China and Ella Lloyd’s consistent podiums, including a Montreal triple, have both kept them inside the top five, with Lloyd still in the fight for the title.

Lamborghini ditches GTP to launch Temerario era

Lamborghini will halt its IMSA GTP program in 2026 to focus on the new in-house-developed Temerario GT3 and Temerario Super Trofeo race cars. The automaker said the GTP project faced rising costs and technical demands beyond initial plans. The Temerario GT3 will debut at the 2026 12 Hours of Sebring, aiming to surpass the Huracán GT3’s 96 titles and 192 wins. The new Super Trofeo model will be revealed later this year.
