Max Verstappen put together a lap that maintained his dominance over the grid, with Kimi Antonelli splitting Norris (P2) and Piastri (P4)
Repairs were made and the sun was out after after a crash-prone sprint race earlier today. This is what happened during qualifying ahead of tomorrow's grand prix race:
- Rain earlier in the day meant grip was worse during Q1 around the Hard Rock Stadium
- Lance Stroll had his fourth consecutive Q1 elimination, finishing in P19. Pierre Gasly struggled for pace through traffic and was eliminted as well. The frenchman was out-qualified by his rookie teammate, Jack Doohan
- Q2 was make or break for Mercedes' George Russell. He found performance in the final lap and jumped to P3 behind the McLarens and just ahead of his teammate, Kimi Antonelli
- Lewis Hamilton didn't have the pace in his Ferrari and failed to improve his Q2 lap time enough to escape the drop zone. Interestingly, he finished in P12 behind Isack Hadjar
- Liam Lawson was frustrated by his P15 finish. Interestingly, the team confirmed over the radio that they were trying to manage an issue with the car's battery
- George Russell, Charles Leclerc, and Lando Norris had bad lockup at the final corner In their first laps of Q3. All but George returned to the garages to re-evaluate their strategy before trying another lap
- Max Verstappen put in a mega lap when it counted, maintaining his dominance over Lando Norris (P2) and Oscar Piastri (P4). It was Kimi Antonelli who split the McLarens in the final seconds to finish P3 in Miami
