How budget cap is making 2025 less exciting

Lewis Hamilton says the 2025 F1 season feels flat because the budget cap has prevented teams from introducing constant upgrades, unlike in 2008 and 2013 when development continued until the end. He believes Ferrari’s limited progress has left him stuck too far behind McLaren, making the year less exciting from his perspective. However, some point out that McLaren’s dominance, not just the budget cap, has reduced the drama compared to tighter title fights. Others argue teams like Red Bull and Sauber have still improved under the cap, while Ferrari and Mercedes have mainly suffered from failed upgrades.

Elliott wins at Kansas to secure playoff spot

Chase Elliott came from eighth place in overtime to win at Kansas Speedway, giving him his second win of the season and a spot in the next playoff round. Denny Hamlin led most of the race but lost his chance at a 60th career win after late cautions and a slow pit stop, allowing Elliott to pass him at the finish. Bubba Wallace fought for the win but hit the wall and ended up fifth, while Ryan Blaney joined Elliott as the only two drivers already safe in the next round. The four drivers now in danger of being knocked out are Ross Chastain, Austin Cindric, Tyler Reddick, and Wallace.

He will now lead Cadillac’s new engine program in Charlotte, North Carolina, while the team continues to use Ferrari engines in the meantime. Baker’s extensive career in motorsport, spanning collaborations with Cosworth, BMW, Audi, Formula E, the WEC, and the FIA, makes him a valuable addition to the project.
